Application Research Of Comprehensive Prospecting Methods In Deep Exploration Of Shimen Realgar Ore

Deep mineral exploration of Shimen Realgar Ore used to be the program ofLand and Resource Survey, which had these total targets and tasks: According toexisting prospecting results, make metallogenetic prediction of realgar and orpimentmetallogenic belt in large and medium scale, delineating the mine-rich region, andthen evaluate the key region, seek for concealed ore body, provide the resources ofrealgar and orpiment ore by using geology, geophysical prospecting, chemicalprospecting, remote sensing and computing method.On the basis of fully collecting predecessors’ achievements, we developedextensive research and in-depth analysis summary, discussed comprehensively andsystematically the geological characteristics, geological structure characteristics,geophysical and geochemical characteristics of this area. A technical route has beencreated that using RS as the forerunner, throughout technology of geochemical zonepredicting, geophysical orientation prospecting, drilling reveal and geologicalresearch. Then we summarized and analyzed the method that involved RS, GP andCP and its results. After that we made the regional metallogenic prediction, dwindledthe prospecting target area, and exposed the realgar industrial ore bodies directly bymaking exploratory drilling. At last, we put forward the scope for further work, andall kinds of working methods and its quality are discussed.By making comprehensive analysis of this area’s stratum, structural feature,results of RS, GP and CP, mineralization marks of known ore deposits,characteristics of wall rock alteration, silicalite and breccia, we forecasted theprospective areas which were thought to have a lot of minerals. When we choseseveral areas to make a test by exploratory drilling, industrial ore bodies were foundin all of them. It was estimated that these areas have about210,000tons of realgarand orpiment ore, which means the prospective is of medium size.According to the former geological investigation of Shimen realgar andorpiment ore, we thought that though the genesis of mineral deposit was complex,and ore bodies are concealed the depths of the earth, we found that metallogenicgeologic condition is superior in the local area, which means that prospectingpotential is great. Therefore, we use geology, GP, CP, RS and drilling explorationmethod to narrow target area step by step, and finally we greatly reduced the costand achieved a good exploration result, which could be good experience for lookingfor the same type deposit.
