This thesis mainly introduces the construction of the time-of-flight mass spectrometer with photoelectron velocity map imaging and the optimization of the parameters of instrument resolution and sensitivity of the system. This thesis consists of four parts. In chapter1, the basic knowledge of photoionization and photodissociation is introduced and the development of technique on the time-of-flight mass spectrometer and electron/ion velocity map imaging is summarized. In chapter2, the principle of the time-of-flight mass spectrometer with photoelectron velocity mapping is described in detail. In chapter3, the photoionization of Xe and butanone using355nm laser radiation is used to optimize the instrument. Under optimum conditions, the mass resolution of the spectrometer is about179and the electronic energy resolution is5%. In chapter4, the author summarizes construction of the instrument and makes an expectation for the future work.
