In the study, Zn2+and Er3+were incorporated into the porous of the SBA-15mesoporous molecular sieve. Tw o methods were used to incorporate the guest Zn2+and Er3+into the host SBA-15molecular sieve in the study. One was liquid-phase grafted method, the other was covalently grafted with SBA-15hybrid materials method. A series of characterizations including, powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyse, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), nitrogen adsorption-desorption technique, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and near infrared fluorescence spectra methods were used to characterize the characters of the prepared host-guest nanometer composite materials. The results showed that the frameworks of the host molecular sieve kept intact and its structures were kept highly ordered when the guest materials were incorporated into the porous of the host material. The guest material were distributed in the pores, the prepared host-guest composite materials showed the better luminescent properties. It proved that the guest material had been successfully trapped in the channels of the SBA-15molecular sieve by the powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyse, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyse and nitrogen adsorption-desorption technique. From the luminescence spectra, there were no luminescent phenomena for the host SBA-15molecular sieve. However, the prepared composite materials showed the luminescent phenomen when the Zn2+/Er3+guest material were incorporated into the host material. The results showed that the guest materials (Zn2+/Er3+) had been successfully trapped in the channels of the SBA-15molecular sieve, and the prepared host-guest materials showed the properties of luminescence. It was worth explanation that the organic ligands were used as chelating agents of the rare earth ion in two experimental processes. They strengthened the activity of the rare earth ion Er3+. From the emission spectrum, the luminescent characters of the samples which contained the organic ligands were stronger than the samples which organic ligands were calcined off. At the same time, the luminescent spectrum bands of the samples became broader, and the energy of absorb, storage and transfer became strongger for the existed of the Zn. It was one of the reasons that the luminescent intensity of the samples became stronger.
