Lakes play important roles in the human production activities, lake surface temperature affects the various biological chemical physical process and hydrological process of lakes, and the precise evaluation of this value has an important significance to understand the law of lake’s ecological change. Remote sensing has been a new way of lake surface temperature measurement instead of traditional ones, which cannot meet the demands of spatial and temporal characters. Commercial remote sensing software has been be widely applied because of its new characteristic and strong function. However, Commercial remote sensing software has high price and complex operation, and someone cannot operate it until they were specially trained; what is more, the result of these software calculations cannot be called directly in other software. This software cannot meet the demands in remote sensing retrieval field. There is a urgent requirements to develop an easy-to-use software system.This paper first reviews and summarizes the key technology of thermal infrared remote sensing inversion temperature, and introduces several kinds of thermal infrared remote sensing algorithm, which is as the theory and algorithm foundation of software system development. Considering the demands and the image visualization features in infrared remote sensing inversion temperature process, a variety of programming languages is compared in image processing, mathematical calculations and visual programming, and the IDL is the final selection. Then this paper also introduced the functions such as band data calculation, image visualization, file operation, and how to realize them in IDL programming environments. Based on this groundwork, the software system was developed. The actual measurement of lake surface temperature is regarded as test value to verify the inversion accuracy of lake surface temperature inversion system, and it is proved that this system can get the accurate lake surface temperature from satellite remote sensing image. This software system is software with image displaying, satellite image scaling, atmospheric correction, image cropping and water (feature content) extraction from band information. And this development is based on the c#and IDL ENVI secondary development, keeping the two development language advantage, not only brings many practical values, but also provides a realistic approach in small and medium of remote sensing software development.
