Zadoi county in Qinghai province is located in the hinterland of qinghai-tibet plateau, geological environment is complex, a variety of geological disasters occur frequently, causedand potential slope disasters have been a serious threat to personnel and property safety. So toexplore and research collapse or landslide distance calculation method, can not only providetheoretical support for the local disaster prevention and mitigation, but also provide atheoretical reference for other similar areas of slope collapse or landslide distance research.Firstly, through field investigation, this paper collected field and indoor data, accordingto geological environment background of Zadoi county, analyzed the the types anddevelopmental characteristics of slope; Analyzed the forming conditions and influence factorsof slope disasters: internal factors such as topography and geomorphology, rock and soil bodytypes play a control role in slope disaster development, external factors such as precipitation, human engineering activities induce and aggravate slope disaster development.Secondly, according to the feature of slope disasters in the region and relevant data, combined the geological mechanics model of slope instability and movement patterns ofdangerous rock body, summed up the slope deformation and failure mode into three models:press and shear sliding, tension-shear dumping and crack falling, according to typicalexamples, combining with the method of the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation toanalyse the mechanism and process of deformation and failure. Finally, selected three kinds of deformation and failure mode of the three typical slope inthe study area, calculated collapse or landslide distance by two kinds of calculation methodwith reasonable parameter: empirical equation, dynamics and kinematics equations. Thenrespectively simulated collapse or landslide distance of three types of slope using the discreteelement simulation method. Comprehensive contrast three kinds of results, dynamics andkinematics methods calculated results closer to the discrete element simulation results, afterusing this method to calculate occurred slop distance, which is a more accurate and feasiblemethod, can be used in the collapse or landslide distance forecast of slopes in study area.
