Calcium lactate is usually produced by bio-fermentation or chemical synthesis. Anoptimization of calcium lactate produced by Rhizopus oryzae As3.3462was described in thisstudy, as well a pilot scale testing and a medicine quality analysis were included also. Themain conclusions were as follows:(1) A preliminary study has been conducted to the small test of the calcium lactate’sproduction by Rhizopus oryzae3.3462. The results showed that the best additive amount ofspore was1.0×10~4ind./mL and the rotation optimal speed was200rpm. The fermentationprocess had initial concentration of the glucose of80g/L, the temperature of34℃andfermentation period of72h. There was a large gap of the product yield and glucoseconversation between the small test and the theoretical, but the gap was covered by thefollowing pilot test. The calcium lactate production was obtained by using lower temperaturecrystallization, filtration, drying, etc. Then confirmed the optical rotation was type L.(2) The purpose of pilot test was to expand production, not only the batch’s expanding,but also the productivily of the production had been greatly increased. Every gram glucosecan be transformed into0.69g calcium lactate, this200L pilot test’s result was pretty much tothe theoretical value0.86g, and the conversation ratio of glucose was80.23%. The volume ofthe fermentation broth was about130L, It needed to add4kg CaCO3in the fermentationprocess, the process continued until the media get clarified and the fermentation period was72h. The pilot test fermentation broth was diposed with the inorganic ceramic ultrafiltrationmembrane,reverse osmosis membrance and the rotary evaporator to purify and concentratethe fermentation broth, then the lower temperature crystallization, filtration, drying were usedto get the calcium lactate crystal. This process of purifying can control the content of theimpurify successfully.(3) The pilot test production’s quality has been strictly inspected according to the drugstandard, including the identification of the character and molecular structure, acidity, clarity&colour of solustion, chloride, sulfate, loss on drying, magnesium and basic salt, barium salt,iron salt and content, etc. The results were up to standards excepted the heavy metal andarsenic salts were out of checking, which provided a good basis for industrial manufacture.
