In this paper, a numerical simulation investigation of model with sting waspresented, which based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations, usinglaminar and turbulence model. The2-order Roe scheme and LU-SGS are respectivelyapplied to discrete of the spatial and time derivative of the steady flow. The rear stingand ventral sting interference in flow-field and aerodynamic force/momentcharacteristics in supersonic flow were investigated. The characteristics of flow-fieldand aerodynamic force/moment for dualcone and doubleellipsoid were investigated toverify the reliability of numerical methods. The results by present methods agree wellwith the experiment. The numerical results show that:1. The rear sting has a certain interference of aerodynamic force/momentcharacteristics, especially in the shock waves interferences regions. Actually, the rearsting mainly interferes the axial force, has little interference of other forcecharacteristics. The main differences of laminar and turbulent methods appear in the tailregion of the model, where the expansion waves exist. The forces using turbulencemodel are larger than laminar model.2. When the ventral sting exists, the results using laminar model are different fromturbulence, the ventral sting has larger interferences using laminar model thanturbulence. The turbulence boundary’s ability of overcoming separation is stronger thanlaminar boundary. And the region interfered by the ventral sting using turbulence modelis smaller than laminar. The interference to the axial force characteristics caused byventral sting is smaller than rear sting. The ventral sting influences all aerodynamiccharacteristics, causes the variation of base pressure.3. The investigation of ventral sting with different shapes show that differentventral shapes have distinct interferences. The double arc symmetrical shape causesminimum sting interference. The investigation on sweep angle indicates that the resultswith sweepback ventral sting are closer to the results without any sting, the sweepbackventral sting has less interference than others. When designing the ventral sting, oneshould avoid the detached shock wave and separated regions.4. When correcting sting interference using Two-Step method, the intersectinterference caused by ventral (rear) sting is as large as interference caused only by rear(ventral) sting. The Two-Step method to correct sting interferences used in theexperiment has great error.
