With the rapid development of social and economics, the scope of human activities isalso increasing, the natural ecosystems are constantly subject to human disturbance anddestruction, as the youngest wetland ecosystem with highly ecological research value-theYellow River Delta wetland, has been effected by the human activities, the wetlandecosystem and living environment of crane in the Yellow River Delta Wetland have beendestructed, how to obtain the information of landscape dynamics and crane’s survivalstatus quickly, and suitable habitat trends, improve and restore the wetland ecosystem aswell as cranes suitable habitat become the focus of current research. This article is different from the traditional field survey of crane habitat using remotesensing data for large-scale study, through the extraction of wetland landscape typeinformation to study the changes of landscape pattern on crane habitat and correspond theprotection measures.Through studying the change of landscape pattern in Yellow River Delta, this paperanalyzes its impact on the crane habitat in the protected areas. Based on the remote sensingimage interpretation of five years:1993,1997,2000,2005and2009, with the land usemaps, vegetation maps and the administrative map, this thesis research and analysis thechanges of landscape pattern by extracting the remote sensing classification information ofdifferent years, and on this basis, select the Red-crowned Crane as the behalf of cranes inthe protected area, because of its importance and representation, to establish the habitatsuitability (HSI) model, evaluate the quality of cranes in the protected areas, analyze thecranes suitable habitat trends and its reason, to provide scientific and reliable basis for themanagement and protection cranes in the protected areas. In the course of the study, themain following results were achieved and progressed: 1. Through the analysis the impact factors of wetlands and crane habitat in theprotected areas, this thesis establishes the reasonable wetland classification system in linewith the type of wetland landscape and crane habitat habits, take the hierarchicalclassification method related indices to extract the wetland escape information of theYellow River Delta Wetland.2. Compared with the classification maps of the wetland landscape in the differentyears, analyze the wetland landscape pattern changes from two aspects: the size andproportion, wetland landscape indices, and analyze the reason for changes.3. According to the field survey and fixed-point observation, analyze the change incrane habitat selection of the protected areas and the number of Red-crowned Crane, selectthe habitat factors to build the habitat suitability models for Red-crowned Crane, andevaluate the quality of Red-crowned Crane habitat.4. Based on the results of the wetland landscape changes and the evaluation ofRed-crowned Crane suitability in the protected areas, combined with the policies of theprotected areas and local circumstances, make scientific and reliable suggestions andcountermeasures from the aspects of protecting existing wetlands, improving the massesprotection awareness, strengthening the construction of ecological restoration areas, increasing the wetlands and cranes science research and coordinating of the economicdevelopment and ecological protection for the management of wetland and cranes in theprotected areas of the Yellow River Delta Wetland.
