| In the recent years, as a new technology Geographic Information System (GIS) ismore and more widely used in various professions among which urban planning sectorhas been exploring it too. GIS is more widely used in the aspect of urban planningmanagement than that in Urban Planning&Design. Designer uses GIS in estimatingand analyzing the problems in planning and design. There are many causes for thesituation. One of the important reasons is technical factor. Therefore, it is anindispensable important subject of current research to explore the application of GIS inthe field of urban planning and design.Taking the planning program of Yan’an new district as example, the paperemphatically researches application about the technology of GIS in the new districtplanning program with the purposes of improving the quality of planning and design,fortifying scientific content and rationality of design, and raising the efficiency of thework.In this paper, writer analyzes the research status of GIS application in the field ofurban planning at home and abroad. On this basis, comparing current method of urbanplanning and design basing on CAD technology with the new method that works withthe GIS in urban planning and design, writer analyzes the improvement of city planningand design after designers bring in the GIS. Moreover, writer summer up the advantagesof using GIS in urban planning and design. Secondly, in terms of theory, the authorprimarily introduce spatial processing technology which is commonly used in urbanplanning and design as an indispensable theoretical basis, such as types of spatial data, organization structure, input and edit, function of spatial analysis as well as spatialdatabase, etc. Finally, in terms of practice, taking the north district planning and designof Yan’an new district as an example, the writer specifically analyzes the difficultproblem of Yan’an new district planning and design and puts forward the correspondingcountermeasures.Then author analyzes a series of questions about the new districtplanning with spatial information and sets up a corresponding spatial processing model.To bring GIS spatial analysis and3D analysis technology into the design process, andcarries out a series of technical practices, which are suitable for urban planning anddesign method, such as: analysis of current basic environmental, terrain transformation,evaluating suitability of the urban construction land, hydrological analysis, visibilityanalysis, three-dimensional display, etc. With the application of GIS technology, manydifficult problems that designers meet in the planning and design of Yan’an north newdistrict have been solved. In addition, it changes the situation about guiding planningwork, which was relying too much on subjective experience in the past. Moreover, itmakes the planning and design that more scientific and quantitative, which is valuableto Yan’an northern new district planning. Application of GIS technology in Yan’andistrict is a tentative exploration basing on GIS provides reference and suggestion forthe method and idea of the planning and design with the GIS support. We hope that GIScan function further in the field of urban planning and design in the near future, and welook forward to see it play a more vital role in promoting the rationality and efficiencyof the planning and design, and fortifying scientificity of planning decisions as well asvarious other aspects. |
