Intermittent, randomness and groupness is the typical characteristics of windwave breaking, and a mathematical model tool is required to characterize wind wavebreaking. Spatial marked point process in the spatial point process theory is a propermathematical tool to describe intermittent, randomness due to wave breaking. Spatialmarked point process, in seismology, ecology and disease transmission has awidespread application and development of theoretical research. After we confirmedthe marked indexes which are used to measure breaking intensity,we test distributionpattern and independence between marks and basic point process, which is the key tomodeling. Besides, a great deal of remote sensing data and video cannot be usedwithout an appropriate and accurate research method to recognize them. This paperproposed method of recognizing active whitecap breaking and gave a way to handleand correct image data of wave breaking.This study in the following includes three aspects. First, a theoretical model ofspartial marked point process of wave breaking was established. It discussed testmethods and test functions of distribution pattern and independence between marksand basic point process. In the second place, based on data of a series of wavebreaking videos, we chose appropriate marked values and gave statistical properties ofmarks. And then, we test distribution pattern and independence between marks andbasic point process. The data tests showed that1) the basic point process is a Poissonprocess and2) independence between marks and basic point process was validated.On the third hand, based on Matlab, this paper also proposed method of recognizingand correcting image data of active wave breaking. It can be found that L functionhas a second peak which is stable in different images of videos after the highest one.Moreover, gray level of second peak can be defined as a new gray threshold toseparate between active whitecap and old foam patches.
