Assessing Urban Public Security Based On Remote Sensing And GIS

With the rapid development of our social economy and the increasing urbanization, the problems and the hidden trouble of public security become increasingly evident. Obviously, it makes sense significantly for the management of urban crime, economic decision-making, disaster warning, infrastructural construction and many other fields to making assessment of the public security in the urban construction and development of the future.On the basis of the research of the assessment of public security by the remote sensing and GIS, this paper structured the integrated assessment index system of the public security based on the capaurban and vulnerability. This paper taked Xiamen as an example, preliminary analyzed the urban public security assessment process and the results. Extracting the urban public security assessment indicators from statistical yearbook data, remote sensing image, electronic newspapers, online electronic map and so on:(1) Extracting the the spatial distribution of floating population, road network, rivers, reservoirs and shoreline from high resolution remote sensing image;(2) Extracting the other indicators from the statistical data, the way such as electronic newspapers, online electronic map. By reference to previous research on index weight assignment method, the various indicators weight assignment. And carries on the score of each index of vulnerability and capacity, combining the indexes weights on ArcGIS platform according to the comprehensive evaluation model of calculation and production of vulnerability and comprehensive ability structure diagram, and generate100m as the case between the pattern of urban public safety index figure. Compared to the traditional method that could only assess in time-scale, this paper can assess on the inner urban space, besides the pattern map of public security index can show the various areas of the public security index. Furthermore, in the side of data acquisition, compared to the traditional method only obtained from the statistical yearbook, the use of GIS technology of this paper availed to multi-source data fusion analysis. Based on ArcGIS9.3platform, assessed the model of public security, and it makes certain reference meaning to make assessment of the public security based on remote sensing and GIS in the urban construction and development of the future.
