Strong seismogenic faults usually produce surface rupture and theformation of surface rupture zone varying in size, surface rupture zone near aremote area of damage is often more important. A large number of domesticand damage investigation shows that even in the near fault ground motion andearthquake damage there are also some differences. Review and summarizethe characteristics of this difference, analyze the causes for earthquakeengineering theory and practice to promote the development of greatsignificance.May12,2008, China’s Wenchuan8.0earthquake occurred, causing hugecasualties and economic losses. In this earthquake, China’s scientific andtechnical personnel through field surveys and instrumental records to get a lotof earthquakes, geological and engineering data structural damage. In thispaper, collected valuable information and learn from those based on theresults of previous studies on the effects of near-fault on the disc, the rupturedirectivity effect and the effect of vertical ground motions conductpreliminary studies, mainly in the following five aspects of the research work.1. After reviewing literature, based on the preliminary summary of theeffects of near-fault areas of the main results, and the status of research in thisarea and the problems have been reviewed by the line.2. Finishing the Wenchuan earthquake surface rupture zone information, select the hardest hit earthquake recorded earthquake stations surveyinformation and seismic intensity data, statistics are given near-fault arearange. Calculation gives the fault distance calculation points. For statisticalanalysis of near-fault ground motion characteristics and damage affecting thefoundation.3. Use the earthquake data, statistics nearly hanging wall and footwallground motions and damage characteristics of ground motion is given bycomparing the eigenvalues obtained seismogenic fault earthquake groundmotion intensity on the plate was significantly higher in the footwall. Thisconclusion is important for urban planning and architectural significance ofthe site.4. by the near-fault rupture area is divided into front and rear and this inthe statistical analysis of ground motion parameters studied fault rupturedirectivity effect. Got broken in front of the ground motion intensity than therear, but the earthquake is less than the rear support the conclusions.5. The study of nearly vertical fault ground motion characteristics ofnear-fault ground motions by comparing the horizontal and vertical ground motion characteristics, has been near-fault ground motions vertical andhorizontal vibration gravitropism ratio is higher than2/3on average, whichis near-fault seismic design parameter values are important.Based on the limited data from the use of a limited area a few questionson the above analysis and a preliminary summary of conclusions for referenceonly. Science is to explore, discover often accompanied by mistakes andwrong please criticism.
