Terrestrial laser scanning technology is also called as real replicating technology.Compared with traditional surveying technologies, it has many advantages such as faster dataacquisition, higher degree of automation, easier to operate, being widely applied to varioussurveying projects in recent years. In the field of building surveying, especially for traditionalChinese architecture,3D information and texture information can be accurately captured with3D laser scanning, which is great significant to ancient building protecting-repairing and thesurveying results’ digitalization and scientific management.Based on comprehensively analyzing and summarizing current3D laser scanningtechnology, and combined with actual needs of ancient building surveying, this thesisdiscusses point cloud registration, point cloud gross error elimination and informationextraction and so on, whose results are tested, improved and perfected through applicationexamples.At first, the performance index of several common three-dimensional laser scanners areanalyzed when some fuzzy concepts are explained. Based on summarizing the characteristicsand main performance parameters of RIEGL VZ-10003D laser scanner, combined withcharacteristics of ancient building surveying, a simple six-range analytic method isimplemented to test the ranging accuracy.In connection with the complicated plane features of ancient buildings, plane fittingalgorithm is applied to eliminate point cloud gross error. The extraction of all availableinformation from point cloud data is realized through computer programming, so as to obtaina simple and rigor method of eliminating gross errors.Here discusses the current registration algorithms of point clouds data. Combined withthe real point cloud data of RIEGL VZ-10003D laser scanner, the common softwarefunctions of it are mainly probed, whose registration theory, method, procedure andapplication are also analyzed and explained.Taking Former Residence of Zhang Wen-tian as an example, on the basis of settingcomplete and detailed workflows, series of technology applied research are carried on,including3D data acquisition, data filtering, point cloud registration, data fusion, data reduction,3D model generating and animation demonstrating.The results of this thesis could provide important reference for fast-efficient ancientbuilding surveying.
