In order to find out the structure and the stability of different type of forest, and theinfluence of different thinning intensity on forest stability, we studied on typical communities inNanjingsuburban, including Pinus massoniana community, Cunninghamia Lanceolatacommunity, Pinus massoniana and Quercus variabilis community and CunninghamiaLanceolata, and Quercus variabilis community. The main results were as follows:(1) The researched community can be divided into three layer: shrub layer, brushwood layer,and herb layer. In the Pinus massoniana community and Cunninghamia Lanceolata community,species were distributed in the shrub layer and herb layer, and the upper tree was less. In thePinus massoniana and Quercus variabilis community and Cunninghamia Lanceolata and Quercusvariabilis community, the species of the three layers were abundant and the the quantity ofspecies was gradually decreased from lower to upper.(2) We evaluated community stability of4kinds of typical forest community with FuzzySynthetic Evaluation model. The results showed that the Cunninghamia Lanceolata and Quercusvariabilis community was the highest, Pinus massoniana and Quercus variabilis community wassecond,Cunninghamia Lanceolata forest was third and Pinus massoniana forest was the lowest,which was in lined with the local forest community development and succession trend. Thisstudy showed that the species diversity and stability had no obvious relationship, namely, thespecies diversity cannot represent the community stability.(3) The different thinning intensity was implemented for5years, stability of differentcommunities were different, the result indicates: in the early successional forest, including Pinusmassoniana forest and Cunninghamia Lanceolata forest, the forest community stabilityevaluation showed: the heavy thinning forest>the middle thinning forest>the light thinningforest>the uncut forest; in the middle successional forest, including Pinus massoniana andQuercus variabilis community and Cunninghamia Lanceolata and Quercus variabilis community,the forest community stability evaluation showed: the middle thinning forest>the heavy thinningforest>the light thinning forest>the uncut forest.(4) As a kind of interference, thinning affected on the community stability, we suggest thatdifferent community be implemented different thinning intensity.
