Since the reform and opening up, along with the implementation of the household contract responsibility system in rural China, as well as secondary and tertiary industries to flourish, a large number of rural surplus labor from the land released. This part out of the rural surplus labor force in agricultural production, and gradually into the city, into the secondary and tertiary industries, the production of labor engaged in non-agricultural industries, the formation of a specific migrant workers in China. Starting in1978, the number of migrant workers has increased year by year:from21,920,000to262,610,000at the end of2012, an increase of11times. Migrant workers has become an important support of China’s industrial production has made a significant contribution to China’s economic development. However, migrant workers in China’s economic growth is what much of the contribution, less than the empirical research in this regard. Therefore, this paper will examine the long-term relationship between the number of migrant workers with secondary and tertiary industries in China’s GDP, and calculate the contribution of migrant workers to the economic growth of the secondary and tertiary industries. In addition, try these two aspects from wage differentials, lack of social security of migrant workers hidden contribution to economic growth estimate. In-depth study of the contribution of migrant workers in China’s economic growth will help us correct understanding of migrant workers. Our reasonable solution to the problem of migrant workers, the promotion of people of migrant workers, increase the capital stock of the force of migrant workers, to speed up the transformation of the mode of economic development in China and so on will be of great significance.The content of this article include the following aspects:The first chapter introduces the purpose and significance of this study, and the research methods and ideas. The second chapter introduces the concept of migrant workers, and organize summarizes the literature review at home and abroad. The third chapter explores the background and reasons for China’s migrant workers, migrant workers and describes the current scale, distribution, and Problems. The fourth chapter is the focus of this article. This chapter is from two aspects-depth analysis of the impact of migrant workers in China’s economic development research. Of migrant workers and economic growth, the existence of a long-term stable relationship research results show that there is cointegration relationship between the two, both on Granger causality test is a causal relationship between each; measure the contribution of migrant workers in the economic growth of China’s second and tertiary industries. The results show that the migrant workers for the secondary and tertiary industries contribute to economic growth rate of23.98%. Chapter V of the implicit contribution of migrant workers to economic development, and urban workers and migrant workers in terms of wages, social security compared to estimate the extent of the loss of the welfare of migrant workers, pointed out that migrant workers for the accumulation of capital, Government financial savings to make great sacrifices. Chapter VI is the policy recommendations and summary of this chapter to improve the social security system, to enhance the human capital stock of migrant workers, the promotion of people of migrant workers, the corresponding policy recommendations and concludes the paper.The innovative point of this paper, there may be two, first using1978-2011data, estimates the rate of migrant workers contribution to the economic growth of the secondary and tertiary industries. Estimates is beyond logarithmic production function model, the use of a ridge regression estimation method, the better the difference between the different contribution of urban workers and migrant workers for economic growth. The second is from wages and social security both angles, the gap between migrant workers and urban workers, and to estimate the losses suffered by migrant workers.
