The tourism space system is the material carrier of tourismactivities to be carried out. Planning a reasonable space layout oftourist destination and building a rational space structure can bethe most effective interfering way to maximize economic benefitsand minimize negative effects of the tourist destination.Meanwhile,the “point-axis” development mode is the most widelyused,most mature and the best tourism exploiting model,which canplay a leading role fully in the tourist center city, to achieve the bestspace combination between tourism nodes and linearinfrastructures. The spatial expansion of the tourism economicelements can be achieved by developing axis,and then formingregional tourism sector ultimately to accomplish a balanceddevelopment of regional tourism.Shani Province,which has a rich and diverse types of tourismresources,is a large province of tourism resource in China,thehuman tourism resources of which,especially the religious andarchitectural landscape have a high popularity in the domestic andinternational tourism market. However,Shanxi tourismdevelopment is lagging due to the various factors,such asaccessibility,regional tourism image,national economic structure,the attention degree of government,and also because there existscompeting with each city of Shanxi Province and the lack of unified planning. In “12thFive-Year Plan”,Shanxi tourism is positioned asthe leading and pillar industry of all province’s economicrestructuring and spanning development,modern service industryand the national economic strategy. Meanwhile,the spatialorganization of Shanxi tourism in future five years is proposed,which focus on the dividing and line design of the tourism sector topoint out the development direction for Shanxi tourism on the basisof the spatial distribution of tourism resources. However,theanalysis has found that the theoretical basis of layout is outdated,the dividing basis is overly simple and the structure itself existsmany problems and defects,that is not conducive to the sustainabledevelopment of Shanxi tourism. Therefore,this paper rebuilds thespace organization structure of Shanxi tourism on the basis of thefoundation of systematically analyzing the elements of tourismspatial structure and the “point-axis development theory”,“interaction theory” and “regional cooperation theory”.The main content of this paper is divided into three parts. First,a brief statement of the existing tourism spatial structure and itstheoretical basis of Shanxi Province,and an analysis of the existingproblems about the structure. Second,a systematically analysis ofthe various factors that affect the spatial structure of Shanxitourism,including tourism resources,tourism transportation,relying cities,tourist market and provincial tourism cooperation.So,according to the analysis results,the core city and the center city of Shanxi tourism development are established,the tourismdevelopment axis is divided,the core and key tourist market arecleared and the cooperation direction of inter-provincial tourism isproposed. Third,by the analysis results of the above,the tourismspace organizational framework of combing provincial “radiationtriangle” with out-provincial “linking quadrilateral” is raised.This structure,which is focused and overall thorough,canchange the interest conflict caused by the geographical split toachieve the complementary of tourism resources within Shanxi allcities’ tourism and establish the regional overall image of“goodness and beauty of Shanxi”. Besides, through theinter-provincial jointing development,this structure also shows thedirection of outer tourism cooperation and expands the visibilityand influence of the regional tourism industry to form the pattern ofmulti-resource,big market,rich tourism and great development. Ina word,this structure has made a comprehensive consideration ofvarious factors internally and externally,that will be conducive tothe sustained,rapid and healthy development of Shanxi tourismindustry.
