Over time, the new generation of migrant workers will gradually replace the old generation of migrant workers and then they will become the main force of the migrant workers in the labor market. Differences in the work situation and living conditions of new and old generations of migrant workers have caused the academic and social concern. The differences in the work situation and living conditions of the new and old generations of migrant workers will represent the changes of the future labor market supply. Only through thoroughly understanding the changes of the labor supply, can the demand side (e.g. factories) make corresponding adjustments so that enough labor force in the future labor market will be ensured to meet their development needs. Meanwhile, we can also supply jobs and houses for migrant workers, reducing the potential social problems. Therefore, from the perspective of work situation and living conditions, study on the differences between the old and new generations of migrant workers has important theoretical and practical significance. In this paper, the questionnaire method is adopted to make a survey among the old and new generations of migrant workers from the aspects of work situation and living conditions in Yangzhou. According to the survey results, after analysis of variance, it is confirmed that there is indeed a significant difference between the new generation of migrant workers and the old generation of migrant workers in weekly working hours, the willingness of participating in the training at their own expense, wage growth expectations and the individual housing area. The new generation of migrant workers have higher demand for rest days, are more willing to participate in a variety of vocational training at their own expense and expect higher wages as well as larger housing area. According to the interactive analysis of the survey data, there are significant differences between the new generation of migrant workers and the old generation of migrant workers in identity and future belongingness. The new generation of migrant workers are more inclined to define themselves as rural people in the city, and more inclined to describe themselves as those who want to stay in the city but find it hard to stay.Differences of the work situation, working time, vocational training, and wage expectations between new and old generations of migrant workers indicate that the changing trend of the supply labor from migrant workers. According to the research and analysis results, in order to improve the match of the migrant workers in the labor market, this study proposes to accelerate the upgrading of industrial structure so as to adapt to new changes of the situation of migrant workers. The differences of identity, belongingness and housing conditions between the new and old generations of migrant workers represent the trend of migrant work force flow and new housing demand. In this case, to get sufficient labor force in the future labor market and meet local economic development requirements, local governments should intensify the construction of affordable housing and low-rent housing for migrant workers.
