Application Of Organizational Ecology To Analyse The Survival Condition Of Local Industries

As one of the most important branch of organizational theory, Organization ecology draw lessons from ecology, economics, management science and other related content. It studies on growth, development, death of individual organization and the relationship between organizations, organization and environments. Compared with traditional organization theories, organization ecology has distinctive characteristics. First, the study aims at industrial population not single organization, by collecting and analyzing the survival date of each organization, we may find the law of dynamic development of industrial population. Moreover, the theory emphasizes the competitiveness between the organizations and the population, highlights the important of the selective process. Organization ecology is helpful to the research of industrial organization. The article focuses on the life cycle perspective, summary the law of dynamic evolution through the whole life of each organization.Local industry has great influence on the local economy. Since Reform and Opening-up, rely on port economy, Ningbo has built its own local industries like ship manufacturing, textile and clothing, building trade which have a pulling effect to local economy development. However there are also many problems in local industries. The unbalance development between industries, the unreasonable industries structure and high density of traditional industries have negative effect in further development. Based on local industries of Ningbo city, through population growth theory and density dependence theory, we use Logistic model, Analysis of Event Histories, KM model, COX model to find how the population density, nature of capital, enterprise scale, enterprise age, macroscopical economy environment and a series of internal and external factors influence the survival and development of industrial organization. Finally, combined with the theoretical analysis, the research offers corresponding proposal to promote industries development.
