In June19,2008, People’s Bank of China announced that the government willfurther promoted the RMB exchange rate reform, the flexibility of RMB exchangerate will be further enhanced, which also marked changes in the RMB exchange ratewill further increase the rate of the RMB exchange rate fluctuations, this trend willbecome more apparent. With Frequently fluctuations in the exchange rate today,exchange rate risk faced by commercial banks is more severe than in the past. In thepast, the RMB exchange rate basically fixed, commercial banks are not likely to bringattention to the risk of exchange rate changes, compared with foreign commercialbanks in developed countries in terms of risk measurement and management has asignificant gap. Under the current exchange rate regime of commercial banks to bettermeasure and manage exchange rate risk, that is the issue of this paper.The paper can be divided into6parts. Chapter I is introduction, this partfocuses on the background of writing, topics of significance, research status, writingideas and possible innovation and inadequates; Chapter II describes details of themeanings of exchange rate risk of commercial banks, and the source, the form andimpact mechanism, Chapter III analyzes the current exchange rate risk measurementand management of China’s commercial banks. Compared with foreign commercialbanks, this paper shows the differences, and tell us China’s inadequates; Chapter IVshows the popular method of the exchange rate risk measurement and management;Chapter V is empirical research, the paper use the measurement method mentioned inChapter IV,take BOC as an example, make an empirical research, and compared withforeign banks in China, the results indicate that the methods of current exchange raterisk measurement of China’s commercial banks can not accurately estimate theexchange rate risk, also the paper puts forward specific tools and methods; Chapter VIsummarizes the paper, and gives some advices to today’s commercial banks in China.
