| Since the reform and opening up, there are more and more project constructions because of the policy in our country, however, more social impacts highlighted in the same time. On the other hand, with the introduction and development of the concept of "social impact" from abroad, the stakeholders gradually realize that the projects change their lives, and begin to take some action to defend their rights. Social impact assessment theory can be used to assess the social impact of the project, but it is hard to practice in China, the result of social impact assessment is always useless. The reason for this is the different institutional environment between our country and abroad. The United States established a law about social impacts at1970(NEPA), and they improve the legal mechanisms from that time. In contrast, our country lacks laws and regulations, so a lot of domestic scholars propose legislation. On the other side, in developed country, both the construction firms and their stakeholders pay more attentions to the social impact than us, who pay more attention to the economy.This research focuses on the construction, who implement project, and to explore governance mechanisms form this perspective. At first, I define the contents of the construction social responsibility by introduce the social impact assessment theory; secondly, based on the institutional paradigm of the organizational Sociology, this thesis takes the organizational legitimacy needs as the entry point and reintroduction networking mechanism and efficiency mechanisms to analysis the process that institutional environment affect the construction social responsibility. This study include the following aspects:(1) The contents of construction social responsibility;(2) what contents that external institutional environment affect the construction to fulfill their social responsibilities by;(3) how the institutional environment affect the construction units to fulfill their social responsibilities.In model and empirical test, this study presents the path relations "institutional environment---construction unit internal systems---construction unit social responsibility", and establish a structural equation model to analyze the way that institutional environment affects the construction social responsibility. This study used the SPSS16.0and LiserI8.70to analyze a total of169valid questionnaires, and empirical test10hypotheses. Finally, the study describes the main conclusions and management implications. This study reaches the following main conclusions:(1) institutional regulation, institutions cognitive and institutional norms have significant positive impact on construction internal system;(2) construction internal system have significant positive impact on construction social responsibility;(3) construction internal system plays a fully mediating role in institutional regulation and institutional norms on construction social responsibility, and a part of the intermediary role between institutions cognitive and construction social responsibility. |
