Efficiency Analysis Of Industrial Clustering In Zhejiang Province

Through access to the China Statistical Yearbook, I select several Statistical Yearbookfrom2001to2010as Zhejiang Province manufacturing analysis of data sources. A lot ofresearch related to the analysis on the Zhejiang Province manufacturing cluster has beenmade,which including foreign direct investment, economic growth, human capital point ofview of the mutual influence and role of industrial clustering, but the research of clusteringefficiency on manufacturing in Zhejiang Province and its Prefecture-level cities around the28industries is still relatively imperfect. Based on the point, we try to analysis in-depthhow is the manufacturing industrial clustering efficiency in the Prefecture-level cities ofZhejiang Province. My empirical analysis starts from the following aspects: Firstly,Industry concentration index can show us the cluster scale of the manufacturing industry ofZhejiang Province. The result is that Textile Industry, Textile Products(Garments, Shoesand cap processing),leather(Furs, Down and Related Products),Chemical Fiber Productshave made considerable degree of clustering scale; Secondly, I use Location Quotient tomeasure the clustering scale of various industries in the eleven Prefecture-level cities ofZhejiang Province. I find that there is a certain clustering scale in the Prefecture-level cities,even higher. Tobacco processing and oil processing industry with a high degree ofmonopoly characteristics are mainly located in the Hangzhou and Ningbo city, due toresource endowment and their particularities. Finally, the DEA model analysis comes to theefficiency value of every prefectural-level city in different clustering scale. The DEAmodel analysis follows in three steps: First, the Validity Analysis. This paper finds thatindustrial clustering and clustering efficiency is not proportional. Regional cluster of highperformance efficiency value is not necessarily high, while the concentration degree inareas of low efficiency value may be high. Second, the Economies of Scale Analysis. Manydeveloped areas may also be long-term in the state of the diseconomies of scale, such asJiaxing. The diseconomies of scale in Jiaxing is quite serious. Some areas, like Taizhou andQuzhou City, which developed later or in the rising stage of development, show theeconomies of scale. Third, the Projection Analysis. Making the projection analysis on DEAinvalid areas, we can obtain the goal of optimal production efficiency investment value.The adjustment of the present resources will help to get close to the optimal target value.After all, to solve uncoordinated problems between the industrial clustering and clusteringefficiency, we should be based on the characteristics of the industry and combine regional economic conditions and resource advantages, coordinate the allocation of resources,making the resources maximum utilization. Meanwhile, in the process of guidingindustries healthy and mature development, the Government, as the local competentdepartment, should actively encourage the enterprises innovation development, providefacilitating conditions, promoting the industrial clustering and clustering efficiency betterdevelopment.
