With the rapid development of economic globalization, energy consumption isincreasing. The global climate change caused by carbon emissions has become amajor challenge to humanity. Since the reform and opening up, China’s agriculturalproduct processing industry is developing rapidly, becoming one of the pillarindustries of China’s national economic. Nowadays, with the concept of low carbondioxide and environmental protection is becoming increasingly concerned, theagricultural product proceeding enterprises’ carbon dioxide emission problem hasaroused more and more attention. In this paper, based on the comparison of current development of domestic andforeign agricultural product processing industry, we use factor decompositionmethod to set up models, to calculate carbon dioxide emission during theagricultural production process, and emphasize on the intensity of carbon emissions, energy consumption structure, population size and economic growth to analyse it.And then through the summary of developed countries’ emission reductionexperiences, the countermeasures on our country’s carbon dioxide emissionreduction is proposed. We should proceed from our national condition, optimizeenergy structure, speed up the research of low-carbon technologies, establish thegreen carbon taxes system and carbon trading market, change economicdevelopment mode, and adjust the industrial and export structure to develop alow-carbon economy with Chinese characteristics. Finally, according to the problems in the low carbon emission developmentduring agricultural product processing industry, we put forward four suggestions:Firstly, the agricultural products processing industries in China should establish alow-carbon production concept, and set up low-carbon production and developmentmode. Secondly, they should speed up technological innovation, introduce thedeveloped countries’ low-carbon energy production equipment, and promote cleanproduction according to their own development advantages. Thirdly, they have toimprove energy usage efficiency in the production process, enhance the processinglevel of agricultural products to reduce production waste of resources. Finally, thegovernment should increase efforts to support the processing of agriculturalproducts, and give full play to the leader enterprises in the leading role to promotethe reduction of energy consumption and pollutant emission in agricultural productsprocessing enterprises.
