Animal husbandry in prairie is the main means of production of Sunit banner. Sunit mutton industry is the distinctive traditional industry, also the representative industry, and also the pillar industry of economy market in Sunit banner, which potential development in the future is worthy of doing research.Since the founding of PRC, with policy requirements and the needs of economic development, the structure of livestock in Sunit banner has changing constantly. In the context of globalization development in21st Century, the mutton industry has become the dominant industry of animal husbandry in prairie of Sunit banner, and the changes of mutton sales channel and its development affect the leading industry of grassland animal husbandry. The number of domestic and foreign sales channel research shows that the changes of sales channel of animal production play a role in animal husbandry management. Then the mutton sales channel is how to develop? Are there a few factors that effect Sunit mutton sales channel and what are they? What problems exist in Mutton sales channel development, and how to solve them?The research goals are that analyzing the transition and influence factors of Sunit mutton sales channels from1949, and finding out the factors that influence the herdsman’ s choice of livestock product sales channels, and problems in the process of sales channels development. Finally some solution suggestions are proposed. To complete these goals, we conducted an investigation in2010, including using Random Sample Survey to4towns,3villages, and54herdsman, and using typical investigation method to2cold storage.This study reached the following conclusions:the main affecting factors to Sunit mutton sales channel:the circulation policy of livestock production; the basic traffic conditions; the degree of mastering information; the size of the farmers. The problems in the process of Sunit mutton sales channel development: the sales channel is narrow; the sales channel is long and sales links are so many; the organization of production is low; the slaughter equipment is simple, and management is confused; the construction of informatization is not perfect.According to the conclusions, the following suggestions are proposed:the herdsman economy cooperation organization should be established; the width of sales channel should be increased; short the length of distribution channel; improve the slaughtering industry safety and health law; strengthen the informatization construction, and ensure the fluency of market information.
