ABSTRACT:With the development of society, competition of enterprises has become fiercer. The key of competition is the competition of talent. Who has the first-class talents. Who can win in the competition initiative. Without first-class talents, the enterprises don’t develop. How can the enterprises find the talents meet the business requirements is a issue which every company are very concerned about.The theory of competency model originated in the United States in the1970s, the theory helped the United States Department of State’s recruitment and selection of diplomats achieve a great success then. The end of last century, China began to introduce the theory which has been widely applied. The recruitment system based on competency model is now the mainstream of recruitment and represents the future direction of recruitment, which has many irreplaceable advantages, compared with traditional recruitment system.In this paper, the research object is software developer, I established a software developer’s competency model through the use of literature study, questionnaires, behavioral event interviews and other methods, and find software developers need to explore what aspects of competency which can make them achieve outstanding performance. I took the recruitment of software developers as an example to explain how to apply the model in the recruitment.
