Semiconductor manufacturing is one of the world’s most complex manufacturingsystems, due to the characteristics of its own industry (production steps, theprocessing cycle time, etc.), there is a big difference with traditional electronicsmanufacturing. Because the semiconductor manufacturing is high-investment,high-profit, high-risk, high return, making it the most competitive industries. Foundryas a mode of operation of the semiconductor industry, specializing in semiconductorwafer manufacturing, to accept other IC design companies in contract manufacturing,rather than engaged in the design. S Group as the Chinese mainland’s largest, mostadvanced foundry, but the competition is so fierce in the global foundry market, underthe premise that does not have any technical advantage, through the enhance of keyproduction and operational indicators obtained competitive advantage has a profoundsignificance. The production line staff as the first owner of operation index, we set upthe performance appraisal rule combine with operation index to make them to reach acompetitive operational index, it will be an important topic to be solved.This paper mainly research from the basic theory of the performancemanagement, combined with my work experience in the foundry industry productionmanagement, we set up the S Group-TJ Company the production line performanceappraisal model, verified by the daily production. Part I, we summarizes the status ofthe global foundry industry; the feature of foundry as well as the managementrequirement of production line, then we decide this topic and set up research targetbase on the current status of S Group. Part II, we study the performance managementtheory and methods; Part III, we set up performance appraisal by MBO and define theindex with KPI to make the S Group-TJ Company the production line performanceappraisal model.and make it effective Part IV, we summarize the actual effect afterthe performance appraisal effective. It also helps the whole S Group to get valuableexperience and set up the foundation.
