As global economic integration of the sustainable development of theincreasingly fierce market competition, the overall profit of electrical apparatusindustry is shrinking to blade thickness, severe challenges are lying ahead. A largenumber of enterprises have turned to DMAIC model to improve quality andproductivity. In this study, DMAIC model is used to control quality of oven firstpass-rate. Various quality tools are used to improve final assembly quality startingfrom listening to voice of customers (VOC) to identify CTQs (Critical-to-Quality).Then MSA is applied to ensure accuracy of measurement system and all defects arecategorized in statistical method. The defects in gas tightness, structure, functionalityand appearance are identified. COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) are analyzed and rootcauses are spotted by means of C&E matrix and FMEA. Finally DOE method isadopted to improve quality.DMAIC model is always customer focused and driven by facts and data. It alsoemphasizes on process improvement and organizational learning. The ultimate successof six sigma project is also dependent on involvement of senior management. DMAIChas provided complete and scientific problem solving method to identify processvariation quickly and grasp root cause and improve. The method will help improveoperational efficiency tremendously and bring remarkable financial benefits to theenterprise.
