Research On The Environmental Effects Of Processing Trade Of Jiangsu Province

In the early1970’s, the relationship between trade and environmenthas become the focus of attention. In recent years, with the developmentof global economic integration, international social being heated debateabout the environmental effects of trade liberalization. As a coastal openeconomic province, the development of JiangSu province is rapid in latestyears, the social economy and foreign trade has had great success,especially the processing trade has been developed quickly, but,as thesame time, the environment have a heavy burden. In this context, researchthe environment effect of the processing trade in JiangSu province,andanalyzes how to coordinate between trade and environment “win-win”development, all of those have important theoretical and practicalsignificance for improving the status of environment, and improving theprocessing trade development stage.This paper used Grossman and Krueger (1995) environmentaleffects research framework, From three aspects:the scale effect, structureeffect, technical effect, use ACT general equilibrium models, combined1995-2010processing trade export, industrial waste and related data, toempirical analysis the processing trade environment effect of JiangSuprovince.The results show that With the improvement of dependence onprocessing trade, ten major export industry of industrial waste emissionsincreased in JiangSu; the scale and technology effect of Processing trade to the environment have different influence among industrial waste water,industrial waste gas and industrial solid waste; explain to gather theeffect of different influence on different industry; the performance of thecomposition effect is positive, those explain processing trade that exportstructure is optimized in JiangSu province, low pollution and hightechnology content industry department is expanding. In brief, the shortterm processing trade may will add to the environmental pollution, butover the long term, if can make suitable processing trade developmentcharacteristics in JiangSu province of the transformation and upgrademeasures, at the same time has generated pollution management, furtherstrengthen environmental regulation dynamics, Will likely finally realizethe JiangSu province processing trade and environment coordinateddevelopment.
