Bamboo Farmers Operating Mode Selection And Its Influencing Factors

Bamboo is an important forest resources, and bamboo issue which bases on its resources has become a globally recognized green industry, playing an important role in national economic development and people’s lives. Nevertheless, different directions along with different bamboo management models, focusing on bamboo shoots, timber, or both, or bamboo-based carbon sinks. Therefore, the study on bamboo management models of the choice of farmers is of great practical significance. So based on household surveys, using comparative analysis and statistical description method, examined production means such as the land, labor, fertilizer, etc. we calculated the output-input ratio of different locations with different management models, and the contribution degree to output of different production means. Also, based on the behavioral economics assumption "limited rational economic man", and on the basic theory of sustainable forest management framework, we detailed analyzed the trade-offs between timber, bamboo shoots and timber management models of farmers. Meanwhile, we examined the impact on the choice and changing degrees of management models of the endogenous factors such as basic characteristics of household, bamboo management status, the external factors such as bamboo shoots prices, labor costs.The main conclusions are as follows,①Timber and bamboo shoot management model is of the characters of high input-output ratio, and the latter is much higher.②Basic characteristics of household, bamboo management status is of great impact on the trade-off of farmers, and is somewhat different with different levels.③Considering carbon benefits, different subsidy program,different allowances has different impact on fanner’s choice.④Farmer’s choices is variable, whether it changes or not depend on basic characteristics of household, bamboo management status.⑤Changes in output prices and labor price has great impact on farmer’s choice with quite different degrees. To this end. when facing on the choice of bamboo management models, farmers should combined basic family practice with bamboo management status before making a decision. Government should pay close attention to the status of carbon market development, and timely feedback to farmers. When making the layout of the bamboo industry, guiding farmers to select the operating models, he should be fully taken into account the price of bamboo timber that may affect the degree of management model choice, and predict the impact on choice changing of the price of labor changes.
