Consumption Alienation Of Philosophical Thought

Consumption is the theme of both the existence and development of human society.On the current realities of social development, there is continuous improvement in people’s material living standard while the spiritual life is encountered with extremely empty. Made into a slave of goods, people are inclined to consume with little ration, which in "false need", causes continuous loss of self and original nature. What’s worse, many a person have to bear the annoy of himself in his "false satisfaction". At the same time, uncontrolled consumption and continuous obtaining from nature have led to the serious damage of ecological environment.As a new form of alienation, Alien Consumption is the essence of capitalist society. The correct understanding of Alien Consumption is quite crucial for us to recognize the nature of capitalist society, which provides a new era for capitalism critique, and sets to eliminate alien consumption the starting point of social revolution.Alien Consumption not only dissimilates human’s nature, but also causes serious damage to ecological environment. This thesis builds up a conduction which focuses on the representatives of Western Marxism Alien Consumption thought, such as Marcuse, Baudrillard, Lefebvre, and Ben-Agger. To match "Eco-consumption" and "Alien Consumption", this thesis analyzes the influence of Alien Consumption thinking on the ecosystem and society as a whole.Based on the origin and connotation of Alien Consumption, this thesis starts from the alien phenomenon of daily consumption to plead an in-depth study on Alien Consumption Theory. From the perspective of Marxism philosophy, this thesis tries to figure out the negative effects of Alien Consumption, which consists of the harm to human and the damage to ecology. As the philosophical reflection of Marxism to the contemporary global issues and human survival dilemma, Alien Consumption Theory shares a platform, through the analysis of this thesis, to explore the solution to alien consumption, to protect the ecology, to advocate Green Consumption, and to achieve harmonious unity between material consumption and spirit consumption.
