Study On The Determinants Of Chinese OFDI In ASEN

When Chinese "Going Out" strategy has been implemented and the economiccoordination between ASEAN and China has been deepened nowadays, there is muchsignificance in expanding Chinese Outwards Direct Investment (ODI) in ASEAN. Theresearch about the determinants of Chinese OFDI in ASEAN, which is an importantsubject in the field of Chinese ODI, has appeared.This research pays much attention on the determinants which affect Chinese ODIin ASEAN. Firstly, the picture of ODI development has been demonstrated in theoverall, industrially and country dimension. Secondly, the theoretical and practicalmotivation of Chinese ODI in ASEAN has been described and the driving factors inthe aspect of the host country have been explored. Furthermore, the appraisal indexsystem in which these factors are included has been established. Related cross sectiondata in2009are employed in empirical analysis by the methodology of TOPSIS andpanel data in2003-2009are applied to make GMM analysis. Some results are shownas follows:The rank of C_i~*by TOPSIS is the same with the distribution of Chinese ODI inASEAN. There is great significance in political and legal environment, economicdevelopment, international trade and resource in attracting Chinese ODI. In addition,Resource, infrastructure and bilateral trade are positively related with Chinese ODIand market scale and political stability are close to Chinese ODI. But theinsignificance education level is also found.At last, some suggestions have been put forward to make Chinese ODI in ASEANdeveloped in a better way.
