In21St century, as the development of internet, the information in every field got enriched, but dueto the distributivity, massivity, heterogeneousness of internet information resources, the increasingdepth, expansion of users’ need and the improved requirements of the quality of the information whichrelated to different fields and different organizations, makes the traditional knowledge become more andmore difficult to effectively organize information resources. In this case, knowledge organization basedon ontology has been brought out.As a new concept and method of knowledge organization, ontology provides an effective way andsolution. By providing semantic description and organization to information resources, domain ontologymakes up the disadvantages of current knowledge organization, enhances the efficiency and accuracy ofknowledge service, and prepares a good foundation of intelligent retrieval and semantic reasoning infuture. The purpose of this study is to apply the ontology in some related fields of agricultural knowledgeorganization. Analyze the application of ontology from the aspects of document and data. This specificmethod of applying ontology in agricultural knowledge organization will be demonstrated in two waysin this paper:First, by establishing a knowledge base based on domain ontology, it shows the specific applicationof domain ontology in agricultural knowledge organization, and directly displays the application ofagricultural knowledge organization based on ontology.Second, as a new technology of Semantic Web application, linked data is an important form ofknowledge organization. The application of ontology in linked data field is to establish linked data andintegrate the collection of linked data. By the introduction of these two processes, combined with theinstance of AGROVOC, future explore the advantages of ontology in revealing semantic relations andmeeting the demand of users in the related agricultural field of knowledge organization.
