The Study On Impacts Of Rural Labor Migration To Agricultural Production In Shannxi Province

Since the reform and open policy more than30years, mass of rural labor force moved to cities in Shaanxi province, which brings two effects including the loss of rural lobar and the increase of household income, while agriculture productivity can also be affected. This paper aims to study the effects of rural labor migration on agriculture in Shaanxi Province. On the basis of the classical labor force theories and the new labor migration economics theory, through the Cobb-Douglas production function model, this paper deeply analyzed the effects of rural labor migration on agriculture from the aspects of a vertical historical and horizontal regional.At the macro level of the whole province, we used the agriculture input and output data from1981to2010to do the empirical study. The results show that there is positive effect on agriculture output from labor transfer. On the micro level of peasant households, throuth the survey data from the444households in2009, migrant rate to output and technology efficiency is positive, and the technical efficiency of the migrant households is higher than that of the farming households. So the article conclusion is that the rural labor migration increased technical efficiency of agriculture.
