Since the global trade is increasingly close, the ports have been treated as a hub of cargo distribution, and their function has also been showed diversified developing trend, especially the ports with better location will increase their positions in the further trades. DPR Korea (hereafter as North Korea)’s Rajin Port is located in the lower reaches of the Tuman River, and in the border area among Russia, China and North Korea, which is also located in the geometric center of the Northeast Asian region. The United Nations Development Program, North Korea, China and Russia has separately released the cooperative policies about developing this region,and already taken actions. As a port with the superior natural conditions, the Rajin Port’s development not only has the strategic meaning to North Korea, but also influent the pattern of trade of the whole Northeast Asia, especially for China who can rent this port. Renting one port has a significant meaning that help increase the negotiability of material shipping in the Northeast Asian region, which can create a new channel and pattern of the global trade. Therefore, the research of the hinterland market and development strategy of the Rajin Port has a great significant meaning.This article will talk about how to build a new logistics transportation network of Northeast Asia, and formulate the development strategy for the Rajin Port, based on the advance location of Rajin Port in Northeast Asia, and also reference the development trend of the global ports. To study the development of a port, we need to firstly analyze the supply market, and dividing the hinterland is essential. Hinterland division needs to consider the competitions between the surrounding ports. Hence, this article synthesizes the above various factors. Aiming at the situation of the Rajin Port, analyzing the conditions and the development environment of the port is necessary. According to this basis, based on the logistics transportation network of Northeast Asia, I analyze the Rajin Port’s location advantage on this transport network, and compare and contrast with the Bohai Port group and the Russian Far East Port group. Based on the theory of the hinterland accessibility, quantitative analysis is done to specify the competition of hinterland with Dalian and Yingkou and finally get the dominant category and the amount of cargo. At last the paper concludes the position, the priority and the measures in the development strategy of Rajin.It turns out that Heilongjiang and Jilin Province is the main hinterland of Rajin in China and container is the most potential category. Two kinds of sea lanes should be opened up:the China sea lane and the international sea lanes like the East Sea lane.
