The Japan urbanization during postwar high-speed development period is animportant phase of Japan urbanization, and it is mainly divided into two periods. The firstperiod goes for the post-war Japan economic Renaissance.The main features of that periodwere that the Japan cities returned to normal development from state of war, and made aseries of laws and regulations to encourage city development and a number of burgeoningindustrial cities sprang up. The Japan government played the dominant role in thetransition process. The60’s was the second period of Japan urbanization. This period wasthe high-speed development period of Japan urbanization, and Japan’s social economymade great progress during this period and became next only to America among capitalistcountries, and Japan urbanization got a chance to be promoted greatly. Up to late70’s,Japan urbanization reached76%, and developed three city circles (Tokyo, Nagoya andOsaka as the center). Science, technology and policy were the driving force of Japanurbanization during that period. The Japan urbanization of postwar high-speeddevelopment period had a tremendous impact to Japan social economy. It promoted theprocess of industrialization, movement of population and changed the relation betweencities and countryside. At the same time, a lot of policies made by Japan government forcity development during that period such as developing small-medium cities vigorously,building fellow town, drawing up a plan for city development and etc were succeeded anddeveloped.
