Lion-dancing is a centuries-old Chinese traditional folk dance withdistinctive ethnic features. According to the region and style, lion-dancingcan be classified into two types: the North Lion and the South Lion. TheTeng County Lion-dancing is the outstanding representative of the SouthLion. Based on field investigation, this thesis tries to explore and analyzethe problems and countermeasures of lion-dancing, taking the TengCounty Lion-dancing for example. This thesis is aim to promote theculture of lion-dancing and to act as a helpful reference for the protectionand development of other folk dances. This thesis falls into four partsincluding introduction, main body, concluding remarks and appendix. Theintroduction gives a rundown on the object, purpose and significance ofthe study, research status and research methods.The main body includes the following four parts: The origin,evolution and classification of lion-dancing. The environment of TengCounty and lion-dancing. The Inheritance and the inherited field of theTeng County lion-dancing. The status and protections of the Teng Countylion-dancing. The above contents can draw a conclusion:As a traditionalfolk art, the inheritance and protection situation of the Teng CountyLion-dancing is still far from optimistic. It may result from the graduallynarrowing of survival space for lion-dancing, the shortage of inheritorsand the imperfection of the local training system. The persistentdevelopment of lion-dancing in the modern context depends on thegovernmental advocacy and support of all circles. Lion dancing innovatedon the basis of tradition essence. This also forms the necessary conditionof the Lion Dancing development.
