It amount to 90.5 percent titanium reserve of china and 35.2 percent of all of the world. from later the 1970s, vanadium-titanium magnetite ore has been comprehensive utilized. Made a lot of breakthroughs in several major key technologies. National technical department approved that pazhihua to be the National new material achievement commercialization and industrialization base in December 2001. it promoted the development of utilization of vanadium-titanium magnetite ore. September 2007 the government of panzhihua decided to make panzhihua to be The Chinese capital of vanadium-titanium. From this year, it made great progress in the development of vanadium-titanium magnetite ore. In the past 30 years, a full industrial system of Titanium materials, titanium white powder and titanium have formed. In the 2010 the yield of Titanium concentrates is 1.564 million ton, the yield of titanium white powder and titanium slag is 250 thousand ton and 172.6 thousand ton. The Titanium industry achieve output 5.706 billion yuan. The panzhihuan have became the biggest base of titanium white powder and Rich titanium material in china. However, there are several problems still exist and restrict the titanium industry. Such as irrational industrial structure, industrial cluster effect is not strong, Research and development ability and the level of technology is deficiency and Resource utilization rate is low. Compare with the comprehensive utilization of steel and vanadium the development of titanium resources is observably slow. The titanium industry is only small proportion of gross industrial output. It is still not the superior industry. From the 2008 the government of China promulgated several program to adjust the industrial structure, it included the "iron and steel industry restructuring and revitalization plan." In this plan the government support the comprehensive utilization of Vanadium and titanium in west of panzhihua. The government of sichua set an target that make panzhihua to be the World-class vanadium and titanium industry base in its "outline of strategic resources innovation plan of west of panzhihua" so to support the program of making panzhihua to be the Chinese capital of vanadium-titanium, we must seize the opportunity to Innovate resources development mode, optimize the titanium industry structure breakthrough key technology and Increase resource utilization rate.In this investigation, we summarized the status and trends of Titanium industry development in china and all over the world. Then described the development and peculiarity of titanium industry in panzhihua, and discussed the problem of the sustainable development of titanium industry in panzhihua. Finally we give some advices on optimization of titanium industry structure, promoting reasonable layout of titanium industry, strengthening construction of technology innovation system, improving industrial policies promoting the sustainable development of titanium industry and so on.
