With the fierce competition between high-speed railway and airlines, the concept of “air-railintermodality” emerges. Air-rail intermodality means that air and rail are integrated into an efficientand seamless transportation way to serve the passengers.This article focuses on the research of theair-rail inter-modal network design.Firstly, the competition between air and rail is analyzed in detail, including building a marketshare rate model for the rail and analyzing the competent journey distance for air and rail respectively.Secondly, this article brings forward the concept of logic model and mixed set programming, bywhich the logic model for Uncapacitated Multi-allocation p-hub Median Problem (UMpHMP, thebasic model for inter-modality model) is built and proper search rules are designed to solve theproblem. Thirdly, air-rail inter-modal model is designed on the basis of UMpHMP and simpilified bythe market share rate model. According to the characteristics of the model, search rules of highefficiency are designed.For UMpHMP, CAB data and domestic data are brought to test it, the result of which iscompared with that of ILOG and proves the feasibility of the model and efficiency of the algorithm.For the inter-modal model, domestic data are given to verify and analyze it, the result of which provesthe validity of the inter-modal mode. Finally, according to the results of the examples, the possibleinter-modal modes are summarized as the references for the building of the domestic air-railinter-modal network design.
