Research And Implementation Of WAN Acceleration Gateway

As the economic globalization, more and more enterprises begin to set up branches in different regions.In order to meet the needs of office information technology, it often creates centralized data, information service center based on wide area network (WAN).Therefore,WAN performance issues are concerned. This paper designs a set of WAN acceleration solutions from the view of transport and application layer.This paper summarizes the current mainstream WAN optimization technology and divides into protocol optimization, data optimization and application optimization.According the classification, the acceleration gateway uses bilateral acceleration strategy and hierarchical framework to design. It redirects data to the acceleration gateway based on packet capture technology. Then, it passes the transport layer and acceleration layer to optimize and accelerate the realization of application data.AccGw is the software support platform of acceleration gateway. It provides a unified platform and interface for the development of acceleration application. AccGw which uses the event collection and event distribution mechanism to control the network data receiving and sending is based on Epoll event-driver model.The session model manages data transmission outside the system which provides interface for protocol optimization. The tunnel model manages data transmission within the system which provides interface for data optimization.They are realized by acceleration plug-in.Finally,this paper develops exchange, ftp and http acceleration plug-in based on AccGw. Experimental results show it speeds up 2-7 times in transfering mail,downloading file and browsing Web after using AccGw. In addition, it has stress test. Test data show that it has good performance and can support large numbers of concurrent users which can meet the acceleration application of small and medium enterprises.
