In order to meet people’s increasingly growing requirement of high speed, high quality transmission in wireless communication, wireless cooperative communiction becomes a main research direction after multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) technology. Although MIMO has many advantages such as high bandwidth efficiency, fading resisting, it is protected from widely using due to the reason of limitations in portable mobile terminals, such as energy, price and size. Cooperative communication technology solves the problem by sharing antennas and other resources among cooperative users. They generate a virtual MIMO system, which processes distributedly to achive space diversity gain, enhance reliability, increase system capacity and extend the cell coverage. This paper does a research on cooperative protocols in cooperative communication. It proposes two novel protocols based on incremental relaying protocol which has high bandwidth efficiency. Theoretical analysis and simulations are taken to study the performances of the two protocols. The main works of the thesis includes:First, this paper proposes a novel cooperative protocol base on incremental relaying, namely, spatial modulation incremetal relaying protocol. During the second phase of transmit, the protocol maps information bits into two information carrying units. It reduces the order of constellation and increases the Eropean distance between signal points. The paper first proposes the protocol in two user scenario and gives a theoretical analysis for the frame error ratio. And then the protocal is extended to multiple user scenario in which the number of users meets some conditions. Simulation shows that spatial modulation incremetal relaying protocol brings significant gain in performance and the analytical results and simulation results are very close.Second, general spatial modulation incremental relaying protocol is proposed. This protocal is an improvement on spatial modulation incremental relaying protocol. Spatial modulation incremetal relaying protocol is limited by the number of cooperative users. General spatial modulation incremental relaying protocol solves the problem and can be used in cooperative users of any number. Simulations in frame error ratio and thoughput validate that general spatial modulation incremental relaying protocol gives a better performance than tradition incremental relaying protocol. Finally, concludes the paper and gives some directions for future research.
