The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) has aroused great concern worldwide. Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP), a new network transport protocol which combined the idea of REST architecture of the Internet and the features of IoT, is proposed by the IETF recently. Since the Co RE working group put forward the first version of CoAP, the protocol has received much attention from both the academic and the industry world. It is anticipated that with the further development and popularization of IoT. not only more CoAP related studies will be carried out, but also more CoAP related products will be introduced to the market.In common with other network protocols, CoAP is defined in natural language, which often leads to different network devices" protocol implementations. To improve devices’quality and interconnectivity and to reduce the failure rate, conformance testings are processed to verify devices’conformances with the protocol specifications.Based on a thorough understanding of CoAP, this paper focused on CoAP conformance testing and contributed three main parts. First, this paper kept following the drafting process of CoAP and processed deep analysis about testing requirements and test suite framework based on the latest version of CoAP draft. Secondly, this paper chosed TTCN-3language to develop executable test suite in the light of the testing requirements and test suite framework. Third, the paper tested an existed IUT by developing a conformance test system and running it on a testing environment.The executable test suite and conformance test system have been used in the second CoAP interoperability testing activities (2012.11, France), providing a pratical CoAP protocol automation testing method.
