Placement machine is a sophisticated industrial robots, which combined bymechanical, optical, electrical, and machine vision technology. It’s a electronic assemblymanufacturing equipment with high-speed, high-precision, intelligent. This paper used theQUAD QSP-2surface mount machine in SMT laboratory as the research platform. Itintroduced hardware structure and the control system of the placement machine, and thenreseached the optimization of component placement path.It also established themathematical model and then used of a variety of algorithms for optimization calculations.At last it studied the optimal solution of the path to the component.The main work in the research subject is divided into three parts. the first partintroduced the hardware portion of the placement machine and discussed the technicalprinciples, and improved and updated part of the control system of the placement machine.The second part introduced the software of placement machine control system and thebasic functions of the software. The third part established a mathematical model ofcomponent placement path optimization, and used the greedy algorithm, simulatedannealing algorithm, ant colony algorithm and genetic algorithm to optimize the chipcomponents path and made some simulation experiments.After analyzing the advantagesand disadvantages of the four algorithms it established the final optimization program ofMounter path optimization.
