Nowdays, sound is the most basic exchange methods for information and is widely used in many fields. It is more difficult to detect and transmit the sound signal for its large quantity of information and dispersive location. It has a lot of advantage for the combination of the sound detection system and wireless sensor network. On one hand, it’s easy to wire and convenient to move. On the other hand, the self-organizing, adaptive characteristics and some synchronization, localization methods in the wireless sensor network can be brought in to make the system more flexible and more extensive for application. The user can easily achieve the sound signal through the monitoring software on the remote device.This paper designs a sound detection system which adopts STM32, NRF24L01and ENC28J60as its micro-control, wireless transceiver and ethernet transmission unit. The system is composed of three parts such as the sound acquisition node, the sink node and the monitoring software. The TPSN algorithm is applied for the synchronization among nodes while the TOA algorithm and three edge measuring method are applied for the exploration of source localization of the system. The system has a high speed of transmission, a stable operation and a very good application prospect.
