With the development of multi-antenna technology in the mobile communication network and active antenna technology, active antenna is expected to become the weapon of the3G/4G network construction. With a huge advantage in reducing site rental, maintenance and energy costs, active antenna technology has become an important means for operators to reduce operating expenses. In addition, the active antenna will improve network performance and deployment flexibility, providing the user the best wireless coverage and service quality. Therefore active antenna has very good prospects in the new wireless network deployment.The characteristics of the intelligentized AAS(Active Antenna System) on roundly improving the system performance were analyzed as the start of the paper. The system performance was consist of the following:site architecture and thermal performance, transmitting/receiving performance and feeder loss, coverage performance, antenna parameter adjustment and beamforming control, enhanced network performance and user experience, volume and size, etc.Combined with the China Unicom Network status and LTE deployment strategies, the AAS scenarios and key technologies improvement are proposed in FDD duplexing mod. The major improvements consists of the following works:proposal of the concept of the intelligentized AAS and its system architecture; specific description and summary of the two key steps for the design of the system architecture; the DOA algorithm based3D beamforming technology improvement and simulation; proposal and simulation of codebook based3D precoding and3D codebook; optimization and simulation of the codebook selection of precoding. The simulation results show that:the DOA algorithm improvement and the3D codebook design and improvement enhance the system performance effectively.
