With the rapid development of Internet and the maturity of the network application, internets are connected globally, and this brings much convenience for our life and work, so Internet become indispensable for us, and is used everywhere. With this development, the number of the application at Internet is growing continuously, form early simple network service such as Internet surfing, email and charting with word, which uses less bandwidth, to an era of multimedia. Now the applications are much more than the early time of the Internet and use more bandwidth, and the bandwidth become not enough, so it brings huge pressure to the Internet service provider. Besides the problem of network content’s security become more and more critical, the restriction of worker’s behavior at Internet is urgent needed when working time. How to solve those problems is a one of important themes which need to be researched at information age. Network traffic inspection and control system is an important solution of those schemes. Now there are some products at the market, which is mainly used for internet content provider and are expensive. The small network owner can not afford such product. How to design a system which is not expensive and can provide the function such as balancing the traffic, filtering traffic and managing the Internet behavior, is the theme researched in this paper.This paper researches and analyzes traffic identification technology and traffic control technology. Then an eMule identification scheme is analyzed and designed, a traffic inspection and control system is designed. The system is applied at small-scale network, has the function such as identification and control. The mainly work is done in this paper is:1. This paper analyzes the features and the client of the traffic inspection and control device at the market, and then which class of the client for the system designed in this paper was decided.2. This paper researches the technology of the traffic inspection and control deeply:traffic identification technology and traffic control technology. And then an eMule identification scheme is analyzed and designed.3. This paper researches and designs the frame of the traffic inspection and control system. The technology such as DPI and DFI is supported, which can be used to control the network flow. A network deployment scheme is also proposed.4.This paper researches the implementation of the modes of the traffic inspection and control system. The principle of how to get network packet by using Netfilter frame is analyzed. And the implementation of the traffic inspection and control system which based on Netfilter frame is proposed. Later the implementation of the modes of the system is also given, and the scheme of limiting the flow and web interface is designed.5. This paper analyzes the performance and the function of the traffic inspection and control system. A test case is designed to test and verify the main function of the system.
