The synchronization technology is a very important technology for modern communication systems, can be said that a good synchronization is the basis of the entire digital communications system. In recent years Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) technology has developed rapidly, but there are also many challenges, for example the synchronization technology. This paper studies the carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm in Wireless Body Area Network.The paper first introduces the WBAN technology, including a range of applications, the characteristics of the communication channel, pointed out that due to the complexity of the surface of the human body radio channel, carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm in WBAN system will work in a lower SNR condition. First, the paper introduces the evaluation criterions, the basic theory and methods of carrier frequency offset estimation algorithm. Then the paper introduce and in-depth analysis of several representative algorithms, for example, the Kay algorithm、the Fitz algorithm、the Rife-Jain algorithm and its improved algorithm and so on. Use the method of theoretical analysis and simulation, the author comparison those algorithm’s performance. Finally, with the segmentation thinking and the actual situation of WBAN system, the author study and propose an improved Rife-Jain algorithm which based on SNR estimation techniques.This paper presents a new frequency offset estimation algorithm which has a low SNR requirements, low complexity and good estimation accuracy. The new algorithm is suitable for engineering applications and therefore it has a certainly significance.
