As an important part of microwave photonics, microwave generation technique has attracted great attention. At the same time rapid development has happened in optical fiber communication, which plays great role in promoting research work. Microwave signal source with low phase noise, narrow line-width and high stability is valuable in many applications, such as wireless communications, long-baseline radio astronomy, and radio-over-fiber. Conventionally, the generation system of microwave signal using electronic circuitry is complicated and costly, and the distribution of a microwave signal in the electrical domain is not practical due to the high loss associated with electrical distribution lines. Usually, a microwave signal generated in the optical domain is an ideal solution to avoid these problems. In this paper the research work focus on the microwave generation and phase shift based on a multi-wavelength fiber laser.Several different microwave generation techniques have been introduced. Then linearity cavity optical fiber laser was analyzed and its inner structure has been measured based on OFDM and spectrum fusion in detail. On basis of the proposed microwave generation scheme, microwave photonic phase shifter has been researched using polarization sensitive of the optical phase modulator. The last part is summary and outlook of our work.A method of optical detection passive device is successfully proposed and demonstrated based on OFDM and spectrum fusion technique.
