With the development of antenna technology,more attention has been progressiveely paid to the helical antenna as the terminal of maritime satellite communication system. Many researches have been made, and such as short helical antenna,dual-polarized helical antenna and multi-mode helical antenna miniaturization helical antenna type. However, they are subject to some disadvantage more or less,and with the perfectly meet the requirement of satellite communication system that become harder Based upon the above background, this paper presents a helical array antenna for maritime satellite communications, and to verify the feasibility of the design of its theory, simulate with Ansoft HFSS and experimente with the system of Agilent N5230A, miniaturization and orientation of the circularly,polarized radiation.The design of this paper based on theory of axial mode helical antenna, Point out a low profile and variable pitch angle helical antenna which take the method of variable pitch angle to improve the performance of the circular polarization, with the microstrip matching the impedance bandwidth. Using microstrip power splitter as a network,using two laps short helical antennacomposed of four element array antenna unit,With the method of common ground to reduce the mutual coupling between the power splitter and the antenna.The power splitter and antenna connected with a perforation probe. According to the theory of helical phase shifter,the phase difference between the antenna of the helical element is achieved by adjusting the rotation of the antenna and the probe to reach the directional radiation of the microwave. From the weight and loss considerations, the whole array antenna is used in the production process of a small dielectric constant of the medium, reducing the antenna weight to improve efficiency.
