In recent years, the mobile consumer electronics such as smart phones and tablet PCs are widely applied, which is driving the development of embedded system-on-chip. Based on IP core reuse, the embedded system greatly speeds up the development cycle of electronic products and improves the function integration of the system. According to the idea of IP reuse, this thesis focused on the research and design of the data acquisition module in the mobile consumer electronics products.Based on analysis of the structures of the different data acquisition modules, the thesis proposed a module structure suitable for application of the consumer electronics, which includes input data preprocessing module, analog-to-digital converter module and interface circuit module. It features that the multi input analog signals are selected by the input data preprocessing module and one of them is outputs to the analog to digital converter module to convert. The type and format of the output results is controlled and selected by the interface module. In addition, the thesis presented a design prototype based on the structure mentioned above, in which the input data preprocessing module selects one input from15-channels analog input signals and converts it from single-ended to differential signal. In design of the analog-digital converter, the successive approximation register structure is chosen. Moreover, to meet the demands on area miniaturization, a switching strategy used to the successive approximation analog-to-digital converter was proposed. By this strategy, the most significant two bits in converter are got by three comparators to reduce the area of the capacitor array. The interface circuit is capable of choosing the output data either in serial or parallel. The chip is designed in ASMC0.35um process. The simulation results showed that the ADC module achieves an SNDR of51.7dB and power consumption of11.7mW, which verified the feasibility of the proposed dada acquisition module structure that is applied to consumer electronics.
