On the basis of scalar information perception in traditional sensor networks, wirelessmultimedia sensor network introduces image, audio, video and other multimedia information toenrich and improve the scene monitoring. As the basis security of perception, the coverage controlmechanism provides the infrastructure protection for wireless multimedia sensor networks fromtheory to practical application. In order to ensure the completeness and validity of the obtainedinformation, it’s necessary to design the reasonable coverage control mechanisms to improve themonitoring of the sensor network target scene. The perception model directly determines the coverage and monitoring capability of multimediasensor nodes, but existing research work is mostly limited to the fan-shaped or tetrahedralperception model, and it’s difficult to meet the application requirements of the nodes in actualdeployment. This paper studies the coverage control problem based on novel perception model inrandomly deployment environment. It proposes a coverage control mechanism which is nameddirectional perception and collaborative based coverage-enhancing algorithm (DPCCA). Thealgorithm derives the theoretical relationship between the monitoring area coverage and node basedon perception model of the node, and calculates the optimum pitch angle according to the locationof the node and the information of the monitoring scene; The optimization of the deviation angle isbased on the collaborative optimization theory, it selects a reasonable program of learning andexploration according to individual updating rules, and searches the global optimum to increase theeffective coverage of the target scene according to collaborative optimization, then simulationexperiments verifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The coverage control mechanismbased on novel perception model and collabarative optimization algorithm studied in this paper canprovide theoretical basis for the deployment and application of wireless multimedia sensornetworks.
