In the field of computer vision and video image processing, because of the broad range of applications and the good prospect, many scientists attach importance to human motion analysis. Human motion analysis plays an important role in medical analysis, human-computer interaction etc, even in some prosperous modern city, human motion analysis plays an important role in counting the number of people in subway entrance and road intersection, too.After searching the relevant information, I found the Texas Instruments (TI) TMS320DM6437is a relatively high cost of multimedia processing chip, and its frequency of operation can be up to600MHZ. It also has8parallel processing units in the chip, and in the terms of computing power, it can be up to the peak of4800MIPS, and it also supports the function of network communication. However, its cost is lower than before the large-scale use of DM64x about half. Taking various elements into the comprehensive consideration, it can be seen that the TMS320DM6437chip is very suitable for the development of this system.This system builds an intelligent video monitoring human motion analysis system with TMS320DM6437chip as the core. The system contains some modules of video image capture, video image processing and network communication etc, and every module is complied by programming. First of all, modeling and update of the background image for the camera captured video image, and using background subtraction method to detect human motion area; then, doing the connected component labeling and code optimization for multi-target area of human motion, and doing the target tracking according to the characteristic information of the target body, and counting for the target connected domain which meets the certain conditions, and then real-time updates the characteristic information of the target connected domain; Finally, using the TI network development kits NDK to achieve the network communication between the DSP board and PC. This system using C language to program in the TI simulation software of Code Composer Studio_V3.3, and loading the code to the board through the TDS simulator to achieve the whole system functions.
